Tigerlily Foundation’s Pure Cat Initiative was launched in honor of Catherine Odderstol, a sassy yogi, who danced through life, spread light and joy with everyone she met, and who left us the gift of her eternal gypsy soul.  Cat was dedicated to helping others have a mind, body, spirit approach to health and wellness.  Cat has inspired us to honor her SPIRIT legacy, by offering patients, caregivers and loved ones access to programs that inspire them to light up life, focus on faith not fear, and as she loved to say, “Let Love be Your Frequency”.

Mondays:

Pilates Essential with Samantha Clayton

Restorative in nature, this class will detail the fundamentals of the pilates practice. We begin with the pelvis and build slowly, working from the inside out. The core muscles: low abdomen, low back and pelvic floor will all be addressed. We will focus on breath work, gently opening and expanding the rib cage. Several range of motion exercises will be explored – especially where the arms and shoulders are concerned. Modifications will be plenty. Participants will leave class feeling lengthened and freer in their joints.

Samantha Clayton is a fitness professional fully certified through the National Pilates Certification Program – the only standardized certification body in all of North America. Samantha is sought out for her highly animated classes, plucky playlists, diverse modifications and improviser’s spirit. She possesses 20-plus years in the field of health & wellness, education, and the performing arts. Samantha completed her training in “The Original Method” (Classical Pilates) in upstate New York in early 2000. She is well studied in voice, both Modern and West African dance forms, and anatomy – which together enhance and inform her various teachings in Pilates, Barre, HIIT and in general, movement education.

Having received her Pink Ribbon Certification twelve years ago, Samantha continues to teach individuals challenged by a variety of conditions, predominantly those living with breast cancer and auto immune disease. As a Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist (BCES), Samantha’s focus lies in assisting her clients in the post- surgery phase of treatment where emphasis is placed on improving range of motion, restoring posture and carefully rebuilding strength.

only look better on the outside but feel better on the inside.
His programs help his clients get down to the basics and learn every aspect
there is to transforming to a healthier life. Balancing weight training, Cardio and
Nutrition, Derek not only gets results buts helps his clients stay committed to
their journey. Every client knows what they want, but Derek finds out what they
need by the process of assessments, structurally and nutritionally. He helps his
clients to understand is just as mental as it is physical.

Meditation for creating stillness during uncertain times with Natalie Lewis

This meditation session is based on creating stillness during times of stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. It bridges the heart and brain to create coherence that boosts immunity, calms the mind and adds more intentional focus. Gentle Yoga: Slow Flow and Restore with Laura Currier

Gentle Yoga Slow Flow and Restore:  a grounding practice that links breath and movement.  This class will start grounded on the mat and will follow a gentle energetic arc.  You will incorporate some standing and balancing postures and will finish with quiet yin style stretches.  Attention will be drawn to a longer, slower breath in order to shift focus inside to promote healing, strength, and resilience.

Laura Currier is a 200 hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) and has been continuing her education at the Kripalu School of Yoga’s advanced teacher training. Yoga’s benefits have served Laura as an educator in both DC and Loudoun Co. public schools (15 years), helped her manage through a cancer diagnosis and treatment, teaches her daily to have patience as a mother of three boys, and has been a steadfast part of her life for over 11 years. She is also holds her C.A.C.C.P by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.  In addition she is a certified Webster Technique Practitioner and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Dr. Sims has been practicing in the Northern Virginia area for over 16  years.  Her passion is caring for children. Her clinic provides a true wellness center that focuses on the health of children. In her free time she is an avid reader and loves spending time with her two boys.

Healing through Meditation with Laura Graye

Join us as we interview Laura Graye, founder of Medigraytion, a pioneering form of healing meditation on Sundays at 10:00 am EST. Self Love Sound Bath with Michaela

Join Michaela once a week for an opportunity to nourish your body, mind, and soul. Give yourself the gift of loving care, attention, and a space to relax and release at the end your day. Sweeten your sleep by entering this sanctuary of self love and connection. 

We come together in community to be supported by the soothing vibrations of breath, silence, and sound. The session begins with setting an intention for your practice, followed by gentle stretches and breathing techniques to guide you into deep relaxation and surrender. The remainder of the journey is a sound bath guided by crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, drum, guitar, and vocal toning channelling the frequencies of love.

No prior experience with meditation or sound healing is necessary. Wear what makes you feel most comfortable, have a cushion and blanket near by. Bring a curious mind and an open heart.

Michaela Bekenn is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary artist, songwriter, dancer, and storyteller. She completed her yoga training through the Sivananda Centre in Quebec & India, her Sound Therapy training through the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto, and her Meditation teacher training through the Nalanda Institute in New York. She teaches Compassion-Based Resilience Training (CBRT) to individuals and groups, as well as mindfulness practices for addiction recovery, stress reduction, and aiding chronic pain. She finds great joy in working with diverse demographics across Toronto, offering meditation in corporate offices, yoga, music, and nature-based education for youth, and sound healing & yoga sessions for all ages and abilities. Michaela believes deeply in the power of community and integrative wellness. She is committed to nurturing a safe practice and inclusive space for participants to feel held, and nourished from the inside out.
