Tigerlily Foundation has a 16-year history in the policy landscape. Our goal has always been to advocate for impact by driving policy making to create equity for patients. Patient advocacy leadership has always been key—here within Tigerlily and in guiding public policy. We water the seeds of inspiration and innovation, and working with advocates, advocacy organizations and stakeholders, have created policies and legislation that have changed the lives of millions of people. We are excited to culminate these years of momentum into our Health Equity Advocacy and Leadership (HEAL) Policy Center for Excellence (COE).
Through Tigerlily’s HEAL Policy COE, we plan to further focus this work by educating, empowering, and lifting patient voices to ensure they are amplified, in order to achieve health equity and end disparities. The HEAL Policy COE will focus on systemic changes through policy at the local, state, and federal level to:
- End barriers to accessing and receiving quality, equitable care for all,
- Lead innovation through patient-leadership, and
- Achieve health equity and eliminate disparities in breast cancer.
Through the HEAL Policy COE, we seek to influence policy for these purposes through bi-directional learning, programs, and training to cultivate a center to exchange ideas, activate voices and create lasting change.

Catrina Marcell is a Triple Negative Breast Cancer Survivor who advocates for others by being a voice for women of all ages diagnosed with breast cancer who don’t feel they have a voice. ![]()

Catrina has been a Cohort One Tigerlily ANGEL Advocate since 2021, using her voice for shareable resources that medical teams may not provide based on health and race disparities. She works within the community of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area to bring awareness about the need for better treatment options, patient support, and early detection in Breast Cancer Communities. ![]()

Neosho had recently completed her PhD. enjoying life as a professor and looking for a meaningful job to launch her professional career. Life was moving according to plan until the day she found a lump. The pathways to diagnosis was challenging being 36 at the time of diagnosis, many people still think that young women do not get breast cancer. Neosho credits Obamacare with saving her life allowing her to get the treatment she needed. ![]()

Listen as Neosho talks about her process of recovery and discovery, the pathway to healing from her scars both internal and external. Treatment included surgery, chemo, radiation followed by reconstruction which is not uncommon with a HER2+ diagnosis. Neosho experienced significant complications during radiation, underwent 8 surgeries, her pathway to healing was challenging and her scars were significant. ![]()

Neosho was determined to fight for her life and share her story to give hope to other women. While still looking for a full-time job following treatment, Neosho wrote a memoir about her breast cancer journey, GOD'S GOT JOKES.
