Breast Surgical Oncologist and Breast Health Specialist
Dr. Kalu was born and raised in New York City. She attended Temple University for undergraduate degree, with a dual major of Biology and Africana Studies. After which she attended New York Medical College, where she received a medical degree and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry. She completed her General Surgery residency at The State University of New York Health Sciences -Downstate Medical Center. She then went on to California, where she attended Stanford University to complete a Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship. Her clinical career started as Medical Director of the Breast Center at Hackensack University Medical Center-Mountainside in Montclair, NJ. She subsequently was appointed director of Breast Surgery at Rutgers NJ Medical School-University Hospital in Newark NJ, a position that she held for five years. Dr. Kalu continues to work in the Greater NY/NJ community as a breast surgical oncologist and healthcare consultant.
Her career is dedicated to breast health education and breast cancer treatment in minority communities. She has publications in numerous medical and surgical journals as well as presented at national and international medical conferences on the topic of breast cancer and healthcare disparities.
