In the fall of 2005, Maureen Parish was getting ready to celebrate her first wedding anniversary and had just moved into a new house with her husband, Rob. After finding a lump (and three weeks of subsequent testing), she was diagnosed with Stage II invasive breast cancer at the age of 35 - with no family history. Maureen had a left mastectomy with a sentinel node biopsy to check her lymph nodes which, luckily, were found to be cancer free. She went on to undergo chemotherapy for three months. After chemotherapy, Maureen opted to have her other breast removed followed by reconstructive surgery. Today she has no evidence of the disease (NED) and in love with living.   Maureen currently resides in Detroit, Mich.
